Foodies Festival, the UK’s biggest celebration of food & drink, is back at Cannon Hill Park this summer (3-5th June) with a very tasty line-up of culinary features and foodie fun for the whole family to enjoy.
See Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya whip-up showstoppers alongside Birmingham’s baking experts in the Cake & Bake Theatre, where Master Chocolatier Fiona Sciolti also hosts hand-made chocolate making masterclasses.
Watch Birmingham’s culinary elite - Nathan Eades, Aktar Islam, Richard Turner and Brad Carter - cooking live in the Aga Rangemaster Chefs Theatre, showcasing their Michelin starred skills and sharing insight into 2016’s food trends, while healthy living experts are on-hand championing Superfood, Feel Good Food and Vegan recipes that will boost your energy levels and help keep you fit all year round.
Hungry yet? Feast on flavours from around the world with a trip to the Street Food Avenue. Japanese, Thai, Malaysian, Argentinian, Turkish, Indian, Korean, Mexican, French and African are just some of the tantalising flavours to savour this summer. There’s a special focus on Brazilian street food this year to celebrate the Olympic host’s cuisine, including traditional Brazilian BBQ, cocktails and Brazilian coffees.
Head to the Producers Market to shop and sample from a glittering array of award-winning artisan producers. With over 120 stalls to peruse, selling everything from Seaweed Seasoning to Champagne Infused Fudge, you’ll be spoilt for choice for what to eat at the festival and take home to enjoy.
All that foodie fun can be tiring, so take a seat in the Drinks Theatre and relax with a wine or champagne masterclass with experts Charles Metcalfe and Neil Phillips, or learn how to match craft beer and foods with beer sommelier and writer Melissa Cole. Blindfolded Whisky Challenges are a new feature this year, challenging your smell and taste senses to identify ingredients, age and origin – a great opportunity for connoisseurs and novices to learn more about Whisky.
After a day of feasting and fun, chill out and soak in the atmosphere with live music from the Entertainment Stage and a glass of bubbly or refreshing cocktail from the Giant Pimm's Teapot or double-decker BarBus. And if you are still hungry, there’s always the famous Chilli-Eating Challenge or Bug-Eating Competition to take part in.
