Terrifying moment car slams into a crowd of people outside the MI6 building

This is the terrifying moment a Mercedes smashed into a group of thugs attacking a man on the ground opposite the MI6 headquarters - before the victim leapt into the car as it sped away.

Horrified passers-by watched as a gang of five hooded men attempted to kick and stamp on a man opposite the Secret Service base in Vauxhall, south London

A black A-Class Mercedes then ploughed into the group - narrowly missing the man being attacked on the floor - before crashing into a dark blue Ford Mondeo estate.

Video shows the Mercedes reversing and hitting the Ford again - while members of the gang screamed and hurled objects at the car.

As the wrecked motor accelerated away, the man, who seconds earlier was being booted by the thugs, appeared to jump into it.

'Oh s***, he actually got in the f***ing car, bro,' said one astounded onlooker as the Merc sped away.

The shocking incident happened shortly after dawn on Saturday. Despite the carnage, no one was seriously hurt, police said.

Cops have since arrested a man on suspicion of dangerous driving and attempting to cause serious injury with a motor vehicle.

Footage of the attack has since gone viral after being shared online, with many expressing their disbelief the incident could happen opposite Britain's spy HQ.

'Right outside MI6 building and not a police officer in sight,' said Mike Beck on Twitter.

'How did this happen right outside the MI6 building?' said another, while a third person called Khalid added: 'I mean James Bond is literally five metres away.'

A spokesperson for the Met Police said: 'Police are aware of an incident where a vehicle was seen to drive into a crowd of people on Albert Embankment at around 5.10am on Saturday.
